My application was in a 1st gen 9000 (an '88, specifically) so I can't say exactly how that might be on a 2nd gen, but I did it with the seats laid down (not removed), basically directly over the axle line. Getting much farther forward was not possible with the hoist. Really, the weight should not be a problem - 500lbs it just two fat people in the back seat, well within the load parameters of the car. It's really the general instability of the weight, maybe to some degree the affect on the center of gravity. Ultimately not a big deal, just be safe.
