Anyone know DMV.org? Possible scam site?

Was trying to renew my license on the New York DMV website while at work, rushing as it was a few minutes before a conference call. Was in the NY DMV site at first trying to make an appointment online, but logged off due to an interruption in the office.
Logged back in a few minutes later and found the NYS form I needed and filled it out online and hit print, and a small notice catches my eye "we are not a state agency". Ends up I had logged into a paid ad site that was prioritized to the top of the search results above NYS DMV.gov by Goolag. It offers all state forms online for free. I would not have completed the form with them if I had realized it was not NYS DMV, now they have my SS#, address and license number.
They have been around since 1999, are covered by Better Business Bureau, so it may not be a scam, just data collection for marketing purposes. I have the standard fraud warnings at the credit agencies so there may not be any harm, but I'm pissed that I fell for this because the disclosure was after the fact.
Anyone familiar with DMV. org? Shold I be concerned about this?
