Which Blizzaks did you buy? I purchased WS80's when they came out and was pleased with their performance although they were noisy in the rain (only) due perhaps to their hygroscopic tread. I noticed the new WS90 has far fewer sipes, maybe to quieten the tire in rain? Interestingly, my previous main tires were some old Dunlop winter tires made in Germany. They were included in the price of some alloy rims I wanted to use for my soon to be new winter tires. I thought I would try them for a month and would quickly buy new winters if they ended up being too dangerous. To my surprise, they lasted two full winters and the only reason I replaced them was that 2 were under my rule of thumb of "no less than 5/32nds going into a winter." They performed about as well as the Blizzak WS80's until close to the end of the second winter. They were always a curiosity to me since Dunlop was not known for winter tires in Canada and they must have been great tires when brand new. The other thing about them was that they always had oily looking non-crazed sidewalls, an anomaly for old tires, especially when compared with Michelins.
