Yes, on all accounts.
I think it's likely the fuel would have drained out of the rail or evaporated anyway given the time involved so maybe pulling the DIC plug isn't necessary, but at least in a shorter time frame a car will definitely start from the leftover fuel in the rail even with no pressure from the pump.
Good call on charging the battery! I'd hate for you to kill or injure the battery over the exercise.
Regarding losing pressure once you stop cranking, that's ok. You're not really building up pressure so much as pumping oil where it needs the be so there's a nice coating of oil on all your bearings etc. and priming the oil pump so it's full of oil and ready to generate pressure right away when you start the car. Back in the days of old V-8s where the oil pump was typically powered by the distributor you could pull the distributor and run the oil pump with a power drill and appropriate attachment before starting a 'dry' engine to accomplish the same thing.
