Electric not really a good choice right now, IMHO, as charging facilities are not yet absolutely dependable. Also, I see Tesla sedans by the side of the road frequently, no blinkers, and I assume no power - for whatever reason(s).

On a recent trip to Boston, I got to drive a couple of "small" SUVs. The first one was a cheep Corolla Cross. Pretty spongy and full of screen buttons. A bit of a stupid thing to climb in and out of. It's computer went south while we were on the road ("system failure"...) and we had to exchange it for something else at Logan the next day. The next one was brand new (9 miles on the odo), a Buick Encore GX, and at least got us where we had to go without incident. Same spongy ride, impossible to decipher audio system, worse screen interface. Terrible steering and zero road feel. And I guess everyone but me absolutely HAS to talk on their cell while driving, because there are a lot of buttons in these cars for handling that.

I guess for me, any potential vehicle has to be attractive-looking (to me), not feel like I'm climbing up into a truck, not cost a million dollars, and have good visibility without having to rely on cameras. Oh yeah - and the seats have to be good enough so that I don't have a major backache after a 500 mile trip...

I'm going to look at Volvos next week.
