From experience I would say get the Grand Cherokee. They suck (that is what the S in SUV stand for right?) but it can handle your towing/passenger needs without a problem and have greater off road go than just about everything else out there. Still if you head off road into mud and the like often (I don't care what kind of 4x4 your drive) plan on getting stuck at times so be sure to pick up winch, chains and other traction aids. Wasted plenty of afternoons trying to get JEEPS back from the back woods to the road. It sucks. Often your only ability out is to rely on your own resources so be prepared.
