WINGS & WHEELS at the US Air Force Museum
Join us at the U.S. Air Force Museum on Sunday, April 29 (rain or shine!!).
The theme is "Wings & Wheels," in tribute to Saab cars and Saab's aircraft
heritage. The museum is located at Wright-Patterson AFB near Dayton, Ohio.
This is a joint meeting between the Tri-State Saab Club and the Saab Club
of Central Ohio. All Saab owners are welcome to attend, so spread the word.
The event opens at 9 a.m. and continues throughout the day. The museum is
open 9-5, and is free to the public. If you've never been there, you are in
for a treat as it is one of the largest and best aircraft museums in the
world. Although there are no Saab aircraft in the museum, there are two
German Junkers warplanes on display, a Ju-88 and a Ju-52, which are similar
to Saab aircraft from that era.
Bring a picnic lunch and join us outside from 11:30 until 1:30 in a
pavilion located in the Memorial Park next to the museum. I'm not sure if
there are grills there, so if you plan to cook, you might want to pack the
portable hibachi. Look for the Saab banners on the pavilion near the
reserved parking area. We will raffle off some donated items from Saab
Cars, and we hope to have some Saab Aircraft materials available as well.
For information and directions to the U.S. Air Force Museum, visit their
Web site at http://www.wpafb.af.mil/museum/. If you have questions about the
event, e-mail me at dorzano@compuserve.com. If you plan to attend, please
RSVP via e-mail to me so that I can tell the museum how many reserve
parking spots we'll need.
