Does the Denon unit actually turn on? If so, try setting a radio preset, then turning the ignition off, then back on. If the preset stays, either your constant power is not connected, or, the unit could have a memory battery in it for the presets. Some decks will not operate without that wire connected, but some will, and just won't keep the presets. Of those that do operate without the yellow wire connected, they all should have no problem outputting a signal to the speakers.
I may be wrong on this, but doesn't a '95 9000CS use an external amp to power the front and rear speakers? Under one of the seats, perhaps? If so, you'll need to run the speaker outputs of your Denon deck, to the stock speaker wires AFTER the amplifier. In other words, take the stock amp out of the circuit completely. By your description, sounds like you may have done this already. I've found the Haynes manual not very useful on many things, and this could well be another one that it's almost worse than nothing...
No noise at all indeed sounds like the speakers are simply not connected..
Good luck!
