A thread on the other models bbs inspired me to post this. If you've learned a hard lesson about auto repairs please share it.
I learned a long time ago to always cover any assembly containing spring loaded parts with a rag when taking them apart. This lesson was learned when taking apart the remote control for a Mercury outboard that was sticking while out on the water. when you separate the two halves of the case there is a ball bearing that snaps into a notch (the click that tells you it's in neutral). This has a strong spring behind it. it will fly about 20 ft. Anyway I watched helplessly as the little ball arced gracefully through the air and went plunk into 60 ft of water.
