For solution 1, she'd have to finance the car as used, and would likely lose any savings in the higher interest rate she'd have to pay for a used vehicle. For solution 2, just say no. Co-signing with a boyfriend/girlfriend is frowned upon by banks/lenders, and is also a VERY bad thing to do for your credit, in the case that you do break up... Can lead to some NASTY legal problems if one or the other is a problem payer... Just some friendly advice, IANAL.
I'd ask the dealer if you can apply your rebate on her purchase, with her as the lone loan signer. If not, flush all hope at that point.
