Big 4x4 gouged top of front bumper--advice please

A monster 4x4 squeezed into the parking space in front of my car and left a pretty big "v" shaped gouge and a smaller gouge in the top of the bumper. It also bent the arm for the headlight washer up very slightly (the wiper still works, but you can tell upon close inspection that the arm is a little bent up).
I have been working to "restore" (it started out pretty cherry) my 1993 900S convertible that I've owned for 15 months. I just picked it up from the body shop three days before the incident. The front bumper was near perfect, with only a small scuff on the corner and a tiny white line scuff above plate. Other than the top (which is being replaced in two weeks) and the fog lights (which are being fixed on Thursday) there are no blemishes on the car (except for two very small paint flaws on driver's side and small chips at front of hood).
Question: I know who hit the car, and he admits that he did it. Do I just live with damage to the bumper and accept the fact that bumpers can never be totally perfect, or do I file a claim and make the guy responsible? I want my car to be perfect, but I do not want to be an unreasonable asshole.
What do folks think I should do?
