Saabs are entirely the right car for Aspen. I take it you know about Aspen - ski resport par excellence and plenty of high-altitude snow and high-end clientelle.
You may have missed the part about Saab being able to flim the police department at work, thereby lowering the cost of aquisition. Publicity like this is expoentially worth more than the lowered cost to the department.
See (in your imagination) this story : Saab in hot pursuit of a drunken apres-ski stolen SUV OR
Saab takes paramedic up impossibly snowed-in mountain pass to treat a heart attack victim
............and you kind of get the picture. The tax base at Aspen, if no other source of cash, could handle Rover if Rover was the right tool for the job. Apparently it isn't.
