The GPS satellites are not in a geostationary orbit due to several reasons. One is that the geostationary orbit is too far away from the earth surface and we do not want to require a satellite dish on our GPS receivers. Another reason is that the geometry will be bad for positioning calculations if all satellites is stationary in a single orbit. In real life all 24 GPS satellites fly in low orbits at different angles so that six of them should be visible at any time at any location.
