The MSSM is a different place... good and bad. It's not that you can't get a good education elsewhere in Maine, but that MSSM is a different environment and definitely geared toward academics. We're pretty restricted here (although not nearly as much as other boarding schools in Maine.. like Gould, for instance) and a lot of people couldn't handle it. I came here as a sophomore and now that I'm in my third year, ... well, I'm ready to be done. Fortunately, a LOT of my alumni friends say that college is a comparative breeze, so I'm hoping they're right!
Good luck with school and you've got the right attitude--you aren't a nerd just because you think school is important... you've just got your priorities straighter than most people! Of course, social life is also very important...
