I'm a sports medicine doc. Sometimes these symptoms can be attributed to minor damage to the sympathetic chain, bundles of nerves ("I'm just a bundle of nerves") which lie along either side of the full length of the spine. These can get stretched with a neck extension injury, and symptoms can be unusual. Recovery is variable. I'd also agree with entdoc that post-concussive symptoms can present this way, but in this situation it's helpful if there were concussive symptoms initially (not just loss of consciousness, mind you). Sounds like there weren't any. I would agree with entdoc, however, that there's no substitute for an in-person history and exam.
If you are still having symptoms, I would recommend that your GP provide you with a referral. Diagnostic accuracy is really the issue. Sports medicine should be a good avenue, if I may say so myself, but some spine clinics are excellent, especially in Seattle, for example. If you're better, I'd recommend you not sign anything until you're better for awhile.
