Great write-up!!! I just wanted to thank you for your original post about the Waterford Hills event. I haven't done a track event in 15 years and was looking for one to go to with my new car. I don't normally hang out on this forum, but a friend from work sent me a copy of your original posting regarding the event.... which led me to be there in the "Red BMW M3".
I was on the course when the Z06 cracked up, but I assumed as well that he lifted off the throttle and put himself into trouble (common mistake). I ran a solo event there 15 years ago and the finish line was in that final curve. When I passed the finish line (but still in the curve) I lifted off the throttle and went into a four-wheel drift. I was lucky enough not to pay for my mistake like the Z06 did.
I called my insurance company before the event and they said as long as it is not timed and non-competitive, I "should" be covered. The only gray area was a part that said "you are not covered if you are preparing for a race" (which that event was not). Hope to never have to fight that battle.
Thanks again for letting me know (indirectly) about the event (I had a blast!!!). I'm sure we'll cross paths at the next one (I'm hooked now) and I'll stop by and say hi.
P.S. Sorry about your cat :(
