This guy has been writing for the Boston Globe as automotive correspondent for years. He really is out there. I don't know how he keeps the job. I can agree with the 9-5 not being at the absolute cutting edge of design and engineering in the $40,000 premium car sector, but the way he writes about it is ridiculous. Everybody else considers the torque steer in the Volvo to be vastly worse than the SAAB. I haven't driven the highest output S60/V70, so I am only going on what I've read here. The Aero 'squishy'? What is he talking about? SAABs are not loaded with undesirable junk (just my opinion) like the current BMW 7-series (Note: my ex-boss just bought a 540i because the 7-series had too much techno-gadgetry), but aren't they well sophisticated? Trionic? Traction control before most others? I guess I drive a car that would be more appropriate for the father of somebody who is old enough to be MY father... It is rare that the Globe guy actually writes an unfavorable review... kind of like the Catholic School Principal who is asked to write a reference for one of his former students: "Martin/Peter/Sean/Tony was a good student who worked hard, and was always friendly and helpful to his teachers and fellow students alike. I unhesitstingly recommend him." What SAAB did to piss off Royal Ford I have no idea. His reviews are really the dumbing down of automotive journalism.
