Off Topic- Diesel fuel in a gas engine Posted by IrieTom [Email] (#1032) [Profile/Gallery] (more from IrieTom) on Mon, 22 Jul 2002 16:42:37 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
One of the guys here at work accidentally poured some diesel fuel into the gas tank of our forklift. This wasn't discovered until the forklift started experiencing "drivability problems" (chugging, smoking, backfiring, stalling, etc...) After siphoning the tank and refilling with gas, we managed to get the thing running again. (by the way, it is a Toyota forklift of unknown age- most likely '70's vintage, 4cyl 1.3l motor)
From what I know of diesel fuel properties, there has likely been lots and lots of knocking in there. Will there likely be any long-term damage? Is there any preventative maintanence that should be done soon?
Does anyone else have any amusing stories involving gas/diesel confusion?
