I sit next to a guy who just bought an Apple Powerbook G4 to run CFD (among other things) and another guy who is sending his sister his 6-month-old top-of-the-line Dell notebook because he just bought an Apple as well. If you don't have to have Windows for a specific application, the Powerbook is an extremely elegant solution, and OSX is a real UNIX out of the box - none of this dual boot nonsense. I putter along on an ancient G3 at work for all of my real stuff because it talks well with the Windows NT network, the Sun boxes down the hall, and the other G3 in the next cube where I store all of my MP3s. I don't have nearly the virus hassle, and I can run almost anything on it that I can on my Windows box (which is, admittedly, far faster for internet browsing than the four-year-old G3). I'm not sure which software you'll be running in MCSE, but we've recompiled some pretty bizarro aircraft cost analysis software from Sun FORTRAN to OSX with only a few changes in the makefile. Plus, battery life on the Apples is far better than almost any Windows laptop, and you've not seen anything until you see Apple's 23-inch HD Cinema Display. Dang.
Just another thought...
