what the speedometer reads depends on where the pickup is. If the speedo picks up off the front or rear wheel then the true speed will be indicated, assuming the front tire sizes haven't been changed. But if it picks up off the transmission before the drive sprocket, it will see redline in 6th gear. Any changes behind that point in the drive train will change the true speed but not what the speedo sees. I think this guy may have change BOTH sprockets - smaller front, bigger rear.
