GM's Saab names new chief of U.S. sales unit
Monday September 16, 10:37 AM EDT
DETROIT, Sept 16 (Reuters) - Swedish automaker Saab, a unit of General Motors Corp. (GM), said on Monday it named Debra Kelly-Ennis as president of its U.S. sales arm.
Kelly-Ennis had been general manager of GM's Oldsmobile division and had led the effort to phase out the century-old brand, which has suffered from declining sales over the past decade.
She will lead Saab as it attempts to double its U.S. sales over the next few years and expand its lineup from two cars, the 9-3 and the larger 9-5.
Kelly-Ennis is one of the few remaining executives from outside the automotive industry that GM recruited in the 1990s. Prior to joining GM in 1999, she held senior marketing, sales and general manager positions with companies such as RJR Nabisco and Grand Metropolitan Plc.
Kelly-Ennis succeeds Dan Chasins, who has been named executive director of future product planning at Saab.
Darwin Clark, GM vice president for industry-dealer affairs, will assume the added responsibility of completing the Oldsmobile phase-out.
