Went to a BMW dealer yesterday with a friend who is looking at a new Z4,then to an Audi dealer for a comparo on an Audi TT convertible. Audi dealer said BMW was having trouble with cylinder heads on its largest six because they have bored it out beyond reasonable limits, the heads were cracking and there was an unpublicized recall on them. I did see several rather new looking heads and camshafts in the open service bay stacked on a pallet, none of which looked very used.

It could be competitive salesmanship but my friend is now afraid about an issue she has no real knowledge of. Anyone aware of the recall? The Z4 she wants has the 3.0 six.

By the way, both cars are sweet, the Z4 a more radical styling with nice 17 inch alloys on the 2.5 and hideous Metallica inspired 18 inchers on the 3.0. The fit and finish under the hood of the Audi was phenominal, and the interior is impressive. Both are hideously expensive.

Any beemer insights appreciated, thanks in advance.
