Yet another Saab marketing scam

With the flurry of marketing hoopla to clebrate the launch of the 9-3, I, like many other Saab owners, I'm sure, received yet another mailing. This particular one was for a sweepstakes to win a new 9-3 SS ("Drive of a Lifetime II", if you are keeping track of such things).
Thinking "what the heck", I went online and followed the screens to enter. Of course they want some marketing information, like "when will you be replacing your car" and the such. One thing however, got to me. There was a _required_ field to enter the e-mail of at least one friend you would like to let know about the 9-3. Since I respect people's privacy, I used a made up address (hint: it was followed by @saabusa.com).
What they are doing is using *your* email address as the sender of their advertising message! The e-mail message text reads: "Your friend keeton thought you’d be interested in the all new Saab 9-3 Sport Sedan." I found out when the Saab advertising email to my phony "friend" got bounced back as undeliverable to my normal email account - which I didn't send, of course.
My guess is that they are using this little scheme to get around spam filters at some ISP's. I think it is a dirty trick. No harm was done in my case but if you decide to enter the contest, be warned - any of these referral e-mails will have your name all over them.
