This is from Stuff Magazine this month... they called Onstar to get a rise out of the operator... and failed... :)

SETH: I’ve got a very young ion, He’s about four years old, and his goldfish just died.
OPERATOR: [Pause] And you don’t know how to tell him?
SETH: Right. Should I go to the pet store and buy him another one that looks like it, or should I sit him down and give him the talk about how some things just pass on?
OPERATOR: When I was four I had a hamster and he died and my parents told rne and I was really upset. If I was in the situation, I’d buy him one that looked like him,
SETH: You don’t think I’m doing the wrong thing if I replace little Trevor with another goldfish?
OPERATOR: Not really, but I know you don’t want to just lie to him.
SETH: Right. It’s about trust.
OPERATOR: Give me one second. My supervisor has a girl the same age?I’m sure the same thing’s happened to her before. It will only take a moment. I promise you I won’t leave you on hold long. I can see her from where I am right now
SETH: OK.
OPERATOR: [One minute later] Hello? Mr, Kelly? OK. We think the best thing for you to do would probably be to just tell him what happened. Here at OnStar, we’re big on honesty
SETH: It sounds like your supervisor kind of changed the way you were going on that one.
OPERATOR: No, actually she didn’t, That’s what my parents actually did. They went and bought me another one before they told me it was dead. The only reason they told me is because I could felt that it didn’t took the same. So that was even worse because it was like they weren’t going to tell.
SETH: People forget. Kids are smart.
OPERATOR: Right. That’s one thing they forget. Especially if it’s something that we’re attached to, then we’re going to automatically know there’s a difference.
SETH: Like Santa Claus.
OPERATOR: What’d you say? Santa Claus? I think we might as well tell hill what happened and just sit down and explain it to him. Just say that, you know, he went to a better place and everything and that he would probably want you to get another one and take care of it.
SETH: You’ve been a big help.
OPERATOR: Thank you for using OnStar, sir.
