I've driven both...and just this weekend was in a '05 Classic rental in south Florida (with 700 miles on the ODO). I agree, Mike, the Classic is pleasing to the eye, if not a bit conservative. Makes me think that if Chevy had brought that model out 12 years ago, they would have had quite a hit. Olds had a Cutlass of the same breed -- just some different trim. The '05 I drove had a 4 cyl, and it was a noisy, wheezy thing. Not a great driver -- a bit floaty and lots of tire noise. Still, much, much better than the Cavalier they wanted to give me...that I refused.

The new Malibu design is growing on me. It's a decent driver -- far better than the Classic. But then I give it points simply because of the chassis' European heritage. I do like the look of the 5-door Maxx.
