I went to a different dealer and explained to him that I believed the previous test drive did not do the car justice. He took me out for a drive in a loaner and I was able to take it to some twisties with which my Viggen and I are well acquainted. I must say the car is impressive. I got to wind it out pretty well as well as toss it about and it's a fun car.
My reservations about the 9-5 are resale and the fact that the car faces an impending redesign. You can also say the same for the 330i but from what I've seen of the E90 . . . who knows . . . I will say that the build quality in the BMW is stellar coming from a Viggen, but I'm not sure any amount of build quality could overcome the pounding the Viggen takes on somewhat rough roads. In the SAAB arena I'm more attracted to the 9-3SS Arc. New enough model to not worry about it being old school in the next 2 years and old enough to have the kinks fairly well sorted out. I also expect that should I find a 2004 with the features I like at this point it will be SIGNIFICANTLY cheaper than the BMW but with much improved build quality over the Viggen.
I'm torn. Sometimes I want to just bank my $$$ and hang on to the Viggen but I've got pictures to put it on classifieds tonight. Auto and smoother ride are something I really want at this point.
Dang this car addiction! 8^)
