KBB's top ten projected resale values for present 2012 models does place the Jeep Wrangler #1, but it's estimating 68% after 3 years, 55% after 5 years. Perhaps your anecdotal experience reflects vehicles that did have $5k or more of mod's added, thus commanding "inflated" resale prices? As far as the Jeep thing, they're certainly not for everyone, but for many, they stir some deep-seated desire to be tough, independent, climbing mountains and fording streams. Actually they're typically just used for getting groceries, but if that grocery store is at the top of a mountain...
