The aluminum is 1/4". I think this should be strong. It's thicker than any seat frame you will find anywhere. Go look.
The saab and sparco steel sliders are probably less than 1/8". And as you know, the body steel isn't that super thick in most cars, and the seatbelts go into that.
Furthermore, the seatbelt would hold the person and seat vaguely in place for the most part. I guarantee, 1/4" aluminum is stronger than a seatbelt.
On fall-arrest harnesses I own (for working at height), the aluminum buckles are only about 1/8" are are guaruanteed to hold a person after an impulse force of falling six feet, and are probably substantially overrated. People are generally more concerned about the quality of the webbing than of the buckles.
Aluminum in aircraft seatbelt buckles are also pretty thin, but seem to be fine, thought I have never crashed in an airplane to be sure.
