a small trick

This is something that has worked for me over the years, and today cleaning up threads on a C900 turbo.
There are times when a tapped thread is rusted or messed up. "Chasing" with a tap can leave the thread fit loose and can cut more than needed. If you take a file with a sharp corner and cut a notch into the end of the bolt to create a sharp edge that presents itself when threading in, that works very well, and removes as little as possible and will also cut through rust at the end of a section of threads beyond where a fasteners reach.
The bolt used this way can still be used afterwards. For crossed spark plug threads in aluminum heads, a cutting notch can be cut into the end of the plug and that works well.
