I don't know, but I'd expect a 3" downpipe and especially a metallic race cat to be a lot less restrictive. My understanding about the benefits of a larger exhaust is also that it's mostly important early in the system where, as you say, temperatures are higher.
When I got my 3" exhaust made and put on, it turned out to be a lot louder than I expected. It sounds really mean, but I'm going to put on larger mufflers in the spring. The two on it now are completely pass-through (basically a perforated straight 3" pipe surrounded with some ceramic wool) and not too big. It's got a nice burble when the throttle is closed between gear changes, but it drones far too much.
A positive result though is a better than expected power increase. It's hard to tell exactly how much, but I'd estimate it to be at least 20 HP. Probably because the ECU upgrade was pushing the tiny T25 to and beyond the limits of it's efficiency with the restrictive stock exhaust. In second gear with the sticky F1 tires and going straight on dry road it couldn't spin the tires before, after the new exhaust it can.
