I am replacing broken timing chain case cover, with engine in car- no small feat- . Dealing with the dowels on block makes this no space job even more difficult. My plan is to somehow get them out, and not use. Anyone done this in the car? Are they necessary? Also, what sealer to use on the top of the cover, where it fits under the head gasket? Loctite 518 will be used where cover meets engine block. Also what sealer to use at 2 spots on top where edge of cover meets headgasket+ engine? Any info would be appreciated. Car is '01 Aero. I also posted in 95 board, but figured more engine work done here. Regards, Tom S.
