APC Mod to single Pot for remote tuning Posted by Notnoel [Email] (#23) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Notnoel) on Sun, 10 Jun 2007 19:54:38 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
The post several lines below (about remote APC tuning) got me thinking and I've been reading a bunch of European forums (don't think Saabnet will let me post links since they are "competitors", but there was one that I found intersting, and I'd like to get this groups take on it. It is a method to bypass the F Pot, making it possible to dial in the maximum boost with the P pot alone. This allows for running a cable (ala the Cat5 idea noted below),but have only a single pot in the car to dial in. Here'tis:
"Replace R42 with a 500ohm resistor and connect R41 and R101 together from the "right side", when viewing text the right way on the PCB. This cuts out the 'F' Pot, making boost adjustable with just the 'P' Pot. Eliminates boost taper, allowing full boost to redline. (Here is where I replaced 'P' Pot with two wires, drilled a hole in the APC box, and then soldered a 50Kohm Pot to then end, and mounted on the dash, allowing base boost (.6 Bar) to 1.6 Bar adjustable on the go... just make sure the Pot is LINEAR!, a Logarithmic Pot is unusable!)"
Anybody ever attempt this, or otherwise have an opinion on the procedure? Assuming this is workable, it would seem that you could do this with any of the DIY APC Tweaks, as well.
