What a great time. Brought back memories for Dad, and we did fantastic - up to a point: We had a Garmin GPS we used as stopwatch/speedometer -- a modern-day Halda Speedpilot. We managed to pretty much nail the posted average speeds on each segment, however, the transits between each stage was tight. There was NO time for errors.
Nor bio breaks. And Dad being 71, well, nature did call and we had to "buy-back" 2 minutes for that, and then a trick turn (two rights -- 90 degree and 45 degree, we took the 45 and should have taken the 90) added another minute.
Some roads were only one car wide, so the prospect of passing to get back into time possition was impossible. So the rallymaster allowed up to 5.5 minutes to be bought back that is cumulative for the remainder of the competition. We wound up taking 3.5. Rats. But fun nevertheless.
Don't yet know the scores as we had to head back (two hour drive back home). I'll find out and post later.
Next one is in Richmond, next weekend. Now, if I can convince my wife to either drive or navigate....
Oh, and BTW, mostly MG B's were there, an MG A, a Austin Healey Sprite, but also Audi, Subbie STi, and a BMW Z3. None broke down.
