Opinions on custom tuning of '03 9-5 Aero Posted by Saabpilot [Email] (#134) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Saabpilot) on Wed, 1 Aug 2007 19:09:13 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
So, in preparation for the Saab Owner's Convention in a few weeks I'd like to hear opinions on custom tuning of my "still new to me" '03 9-5 Aero. The car has 95k miles, has been very well dealer maintained and is 100% stock. I purchased the car in January with 79k on the clock. This is primarily a road car which I use for business. So for me, fuel economy must be king...I don't want to get involved with custom Trionic tuning if it will hurt my MPG.
Background on me: this is my 8th or 9th Saab but the first 9-5. I've had a 99LE, several 900s including the current nearly-mint '87 900T convertible airflow, one 9000 and two new gen 900s. The 900T convertible has a few performance enhancements already such as custom intercooler pipes from Jak Stoll and a custom exhaust from George's Imports...your basic run of the mill mechanical improvements.
My questions are, what hardware (such as exhaust upgrades) must be purchased along with Trionic custom programming and what are the real and tangible benefits of custom programming versus any MPG sacrifices.
Thanks in advance for any advice.
