My car's acting up (engine dies when hot, sometimes hard to re-start) and I will be taking it to a pro, but I'm wondering if the mods are likely to make it hard for them to diagnose, or if the problem might be in the mods (chip or APC).
Fuel pressure is good -- I have a guage. There's boost, but I'm wondering if it's time for a replacement turbo (1988, 150K mi). A/F seems OK on a Zeitronix meter with a wideband Bosch O2 sensor. Visual inspection shows nothing obvious under the hood.
Other odd behavior is after the engined died, it would re-start only with the accelerator floored, and shortly after, there was exhaust 'popping' from misfiring, or backfiring, or something, on accellerating, and not full power.
When the engine cooled, it seemed OK.
Car: 1988 900 Turbo Convertible.
Engine Mods: 3" exhaust headpipe to tailpipe (Group 9); APC Box (Group 9); 34 lb injectors (Group 9); 3.0 bar FPR; LH 2.2 chip & intercooler (Jak Stoll) IC plumbing from Aircraft Spruce, K & N filter (Swedish Dynamics), Zeitronix A/F meter with Bosch wideband.
