The new cobalt will now be turbocharged and have much better performance for the most part. The gearbox is still the F35 but the final drive ratio has been lengthened to 3.83:1 this is the same as the ng 900's until 99.
It has incorporated a no lift shift function into the ECU. Probably uses the fuel cut abilities to help in gear rev matching. GM obviously did this just for the enthusiast market. i'm not sure if the lsd is still part of the package. Check out the link and follow the cobalt forums for a while, they should be pretty active.
