opinions wanted re: warranty wheel replacement Posted by Frank [Email] (#2509) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Frank) on Wed, 9 May 2001 20:22:16 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I bought my Viggen at a dealer an hour away from me, and they've done all my scheduled maintenance so far. I did bring my car to a local Saab dealer for the ECM recall and mentioned that my wheels were bent, which they confirmed when it was up on the rack.
The other day I brought my car into the local dealer for its annual inspection and an oil change, and I mentioned that my wheels were peeling in spots and that other Viggen owners from this board were getting the wheels replaced. The service guy told me that he couldn't (wouldn't) do anything because the wheels were already bent and I knew it from the last time in. Granted, I wouldn't mind getting the wheels replaced for nothing considering they're bent, but my view is that if they're peeling and other Viggen owners are getting them replaced for that reason alone, then does it really matter that they're bent too?
I'm bringing my car in for its 20,000 mile work pretty soon, and I'll ask my regular service people the same thing. If they tell me the same thing, I'll write to Saab USA for help. And if they say no I'll either buy new wheels (not the same ones and definitely not from Saab!) or I'll get so mad I'll sell the car (unlikely).
Opinions oh wise Saab owners?
