Cavrider,
The factory ignition diaphragm can be easily user modified for performance. The factory retard mech. allows for only 5 degrees of travel via the diaphragm lever arm. There is a "stop" located on the diaphr. body which is typically bent or ground to allow for additonal travel. Ideally, you can alter the stop and allow for an 8 or 9 degree total travel allowing you to set base timing to 18-19 dbtdc and still seeing a full retard to 10 dbtdc when under full forced induction/boost.
The adjustment may take some trial and error but well worth the investment. Many of our installations use a manual boost controller at the diaphr. signal line for ignition curve adjustment.
Best of luck and regards,
GaryK at SWEDISH DYNAMICS,INC.
