Aerohead,
Thanks for the posting and hope all's well!
The 2.3 liter cylinder head will remove intake flow restrictions over the 2.0 liter version. All 2.0 liter 900 or 9000 cylinder heads employed the asymetrical intake ports from 1986-1993 as one port is cylindrical (per combustion chamber) and each additional port per combustion chamber is ramped to increase intake swirl. The 1991-1993 2.1 liter NA cylinder head or 1991-1993 2.3 liter versions have symetrical intake ports (all intake ports cylindrical). Installation of the 2.1/2.3 cylinder head onto the 2.0 liter engine could show a modest performance gain but a full ported/modified cylinder head would nearly double these results.
The 2.0 liter intake manifold could be gasket matched to 2.1/2.3 cylinder head and would retain low end engine rpm for the street modified B202 engine. Use of the 2.1 liter intake manifold is possible but the plenum is larger and not specifically tailored for the 2.0 liter engine which would bring about a low end engine rpm loss. Our results with the 2.1 liter intake manifold with B202 engine show a loss of low end engine response to 3600 rpm and par with the 2.0 liter manifould towards 4400 then an improvement past 4600 rpm.
