clutch or flywheel?

i have a 2006 9-3 aero (6 spd manual) with the bsr stage 1 tune and the bsr optiflow intake. when its cold outside, and i push the car hard, the revs will rise without the car accelerating, and sometimes i will also get a faint smell similar to what i have associated with a slipping clutch in other cars.
based on further research however, i also note that a dual mass flywheel can slip as a result of increasing HP beyond what the flywheel was designed for.
i have two questions:
1. is there a way to tell whether it's the clutch or the flywheel slipping?
2. what are my options for upgrading either to compensate for the engine tune and potential future upgrades (exhaust and maybe turbo).
thanks in advance.
