I think a lot of your problem is just the tires you use.
If you get better summer tires more then likely they will not spin at all or at least not nearly as much. There is a HUGE difference between how tires perform.
You should not have the on/off turbo response with your car, the 2.3's should be very smooth & linear especially when the ECU is modded. I always thought it was funny when I would be at a drivers school & had a porsche or BMW instructor with me, they always asked me if my car was a V6.... nope... bone stock 2.3T. Now with a new ECU & some go-fast stuff, it behaves even more like a v6.
