So I finally upgraded the tires on the beast to SO2 poles. They're great! BTW, even with the abbot rescue kit AND the bridgestones, the car still suffers from acceleration skitter when pushed, much to my dismay, although reduced, and I haven't had an aligment lately which probably amplifies the problem.. but it's BETTER and WAY more fun to drive now than when I got it.
But that's not the point of this post..
When I put on the Bridgestones, I was quite freaked to find that I was driving on one VERY bent rim, and two more slightly bent ones.
Of course we all know that the OEM wheels are made from special "extra soft" aluminum, but I didn't expect it to be that bad.
Here in Toronto, streetcar tracks with badly erroded concrete around them may be the clupret.. driving downtown where they must be crossed at every intersection its just what has to be dealt with.
So here's the question:
do I
1. Have only the bad one straightenned or replaced and live with two slightly bent ones (when on the dynamic ballancer they seem to wiggle back and forth over about half an inch and I don't know if I'll feel that with the bad one fixed)
2. replace them all with more resiliant wheels (and here the question is are such beasts available aftermarket that are reasonably priced? and who makes em)
3. replace them with oem replacements which according to my friend at accelerated response (saab tuning experts) are available at about US$120 apiece)
4. straighten them at a cost of about US$100 a piece
as usual, your insights are greatfully welcomed :)
