Question about Turbocharging.

Hi guys,
I was talking to a few friends about Saabs and turbos and the usuall guy more power stuff. One of my friends asked me a question that I would rather refer to you. The question was: How do you turbocharge a car that has never been turbocharged? In other words, if you had a car that didn't have a turbo manifold available then what are your options. Of the top of my head (remember I'm limited with turbo knowledge) I told my friend that you would have to either have a custom manifold made or try adapt a header to flow through the turbo. What do you guys think? If you had a car that you wanted to turbocharge, what would you do about the manifold, exhaust, intake etc. I didn't mention boast or compression ratio, well becuase you need to attach the turbo in the first place. So have at it performance gurus. Thanks
