I don't know much about that engine execpt that my mechanic, who has worked on Saabs for 28 years, said it's a piece of sh*t and breaks a lot. It's my understanding that Saab dropped it because of the problems.
As far as performance goes, a forced induction motor has more potencial than a comparable NA motor. The forced induction motor will be easier and cheaper to get big power from over NA.
Example: an 1.8 VTEC motor can be made to put out about 250hp without forced induction. This is done by upgrading the crank, pistons, bearings, heads and related components. All that work and parts will cost around $8K - $10K.
The same motor can put out 250hp and have more torque than an NA motor with a $3000 supercharger kit.
I'm sure your V6 sounds great but the Saab turbo 4 bangers won't hear it since the exhaust is in the rear! ;-)
