It's been a while since I've driven a stock 16 valve N/A, but it felt very similar to what I remember. I've got another 16 valve N/A thet I picked up a few weeks ago, whenever I get around to doing something with it, I'll baseline it before any mods. I am considering keeping it N/A with an '85 p&ped head that I haven't done anything with, header and a turbo exhaust.
I had a hard time getting the ratio's to work out right, but they do match with speed@RPM at three points (2000, 4000 and 6000).
I'm sure that the turbo in the system, not contributing any work does have some effect. I watched the vacuum/boost gauge and it was right at zero throughout the run, but maybe it wasn't sucking as it should because of exhaust restrictions, really needed a true baseline. I made several runs in all configurations, all of them from each batch were very consistant.
I wish I could get some consistant runs with the SDS car, the MSD seems to be giving the Road Dyno problems, I've tried the coil pickup. The only consistant runs I can get so far are in fuel only, with the stock ignition without MSD. The highest boost I can run in 2d without wheelspin is barely over 10 psi. I have to go out of town, or an interstate on ramp (really hard to get consistant runs here),to make runs with the SDS car, the quickness and noise draws too much attention. It's frustrating to get back home to find that you have no data to work with.
The graph below is the SDS car @ 15 psi boost, fuel only, stock ignition. That's wheel spin starting at about 4500 RPM. No matter the boost, there is a big torque fall off at 4000-4250 RPM, it doesn't feel as noticable with the ignition stuff hooked up. The stock turbo really can't keep up at higher RPMs either, maybe I'll try the hybris soon. Whenever I can get some good data, I'll post a link.
Thanks again Kevin.
