I have the same ideas, here's my 2 cents... Posted by Karl [Email] (#161) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Karl) on Mon, 18 Dec 2000 03:06:31 In Reply to: Aero suspension advice, sceagle, Sun, 17 Dec 2000 16:04:05 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Hi,
I have a 97 9K Aero, appr. 30K miles. I have upgraded the ECU and installed a 3" system from turbo and back. So engine power (conservatively 260+ hp) is definetely starting to "overwhelm" the chassis.
As far as I know the Aero springs are good enough, it's the dampers that are the culprit. Choise is really between Bilsteins (progressive, not adjutable, slightly harsh) and Konis (adjustable, albeit only easily in front, rear requires some mechanic work...).
I think I'm going for Bilsteins, but I haven't decided yet. Maybe Konis if Mathias can talk me into it...
Then I think this can be complimented with polyurethane bushings for rear swaybar, front "can't remember what it's called right now...too early" suspension and also the top engine mount. This setup should markedly reduce body roll, improve steering and reduce movement in engine/gearbox.
I think choice between Konis and Bilsteins really is: do you think you'll drive it at track days and such or do you want to be able to make it "stock soft" for some occasions?
Good luck!
Let me know how you decide and how it turns out.
