Ok, I understand that getting a vehicle up to it's top speed on a state road/highway is against the law (unless of corse the vehicle wont go over the speed limit) lol, And that is is unsafe. Having said that, I will say that I just had to try it, once.
Tonight, I had my 1985 SPG up to 123MPH....and that was really pushing it. The car has 274K original miles (original transmission). The only thing I have done to the engine is put on a K&N air inlet kit from SPG9.
Considering the factors here (age of car/mileage/lack of mods) would you say that that is a pretty decent top speed?
I personally think that if I were on a straighter, longer wide open raod, I might have been abale to burry it at 125 MPH.
I have heard of people getting there SAABs up to greater speeds, I think Kevin with the '86 900T has his to 140 and "someone" ahem alse here with a '85 900T had his up to 160 MPH.
