I believe such a turbo would require replacing the downpipe, since the flange is of a different size. I'm not positive, but I've got a '96 Aero motor in the garage, and it looks substantially different than my '88 9kt. Unfortunately, the 9000 is 30 miles away, so I can't compare.
I did try a while back to replace my 9000's turbo with a T25, but found out that not only are the coolant and oil lines different, but also the downpipe *and* manifold. Lotta work... In the end, I resolved to just have my turbo rebuilt... though I haven't done that yet, either... :)
