...the change in wheel width from 6.5" to 7.5" also affects the offset and the track. Here's some math fun.
A 6.5" wheel has a metric width of 165.1mm. The centerline would be 82.55mm. If you subtract the offset of 42mm, then the outside edge of the wheel is 40.55mm from the hub mounting surface.
A 7.5" wheel has a metric width of 190.5mm. The centerline would be 95.25mm. If you subtract the offset of 49mm, then the outside edge of the wheel is 46.25mm from the hub mounting surface.
The mathematical difference between the two is 5.7mm--not exactly the 7mm that SaabUSA claims.
If the offset of the Viggen wheels was unchanged at 42 instead of 49mm, then the outside edge of the wheel would be 53.25mm from the hub mounting surface yielding a 12.7mm increase in track on each side of the car.
I'll try to remember to do an actual measurement when I get home.
