When I had my '95 900S on the track, the pedal was a little on the soft side. The pedal never went to the floor but I would have liked a firmer pedal. After everything cooled off, the pedal was still not as firm as I liked. It could be a case of the master cylinder being too small for a "rock hard pedal."
That said, I used Hawk Blues the last time I was at the track. I drove the E30 M3 instead of the Saab. When I was bedding in the pads beforehand, I was able to lock up the front wheels when stopping from 70 mph using the same amount of foot force as when I drove the Saab at the track. Hence my thinking it might be an undersized master cylinder.
Kevlar pads! Well I guess it is unlikely that the pads were overheating. Especially with novice drivers. What about using a higher temp brake fluid? Another option would be to design some type of brake cooling ducts. A lot of guys that track their M3's use them (the cars are notorious for warping brake rotors from excessive heat) and claim they no longer had brake system problems.
